The Bottom Line

A solid double stroller choice, both in sturdy construction and long-term usage ability. You'll pay a hefty price, but you'll get a hefty stroller that will serve you through many ages and stages. This stroller will give your twins plenty of room to ride, but make sure that your own ride has plenty of room in turn. It simply won't fit into many cars and even some minivans.

Guide Review - Joovy Big Caboose Double Stroller for Twins

Technically, the Big Caboose is marketed as a "triple" stroller. But don't be fooled. This isn't a stroller for triplets. But it is a darn good option for twins. Similarly, don't think you can get by with the less expensive Caboose model -- termed a "double" stroller -- if you have twins. You'll need the Big Caboose to accommodate two same-age children. But accommodate it does, from infancy right through toddlerhood.

Two front seats offer five-point harnesses and two-position recline. Both seats also accommodate a wide variety of infant car seat models, and two universal adapters are actually included with the stroller! That's a nice feature and can save you some money; most strollers require you to purchase additional adapaters. (Note: while two adapters are included with the price of the stroller, you'll still have to purchase infant seats separately.)

Joovy's known for its generous product features, like a large storage basket and adjustable canopies. This is the stroller you'll want to take when you're shopping and need to stow packages.

The Joovy Big Caboose is a tandem-style stroller, meaning that the two seats are situated in front/back or inline configuration, rather than a side-by-side position. Tandem strollers tend to have a narrower profile, making it easier to fit through doorways and narrow hallways. But they are also more bulky when folded up, and the Big Caboose is no exception.

While the Joovy Big Caboose provides plenty of room for your twins and all your stuff, it takes up plenty of space itself. Folded up, it measures 14" high -x- 21.5" wide -x- 63" deep. That's a large footprint, and some users complain that it won't fit into their car or minivan. Consider this double stroller only if you drive a vehicle big enough to transport it. At 37 pounds, the Big Caboose is no lightweight; but that heft gives you a solid frame that will allow you to push around your kids for many years to come.

If you have an older child in addition to your twins, the Joovy Big Caboose is a perfect option for a pair and a spare. A platform seat allows a third child to sit or stand to ride behind the two front seats.

The Joovy Big Caboose retails for $379; it's not cheap. Shop online at the manufacturer's site or compare prices at other online outlets. To test drive the Joovy Big Caboose, search for a store in your area.
