More Info About Nancy Grace's Twins:
Nancy Grace was studying to become an English professor when her fiance was murdered in 1979. She decided to switch career paths to study law and work on behalf of victims' rights. After losing her fiance at age nineteen, she did not expect to find love again or start a family. That changed in 2007 when she married Atlanta-based investment banker David Linch. They married in April, and Grace gave birth to fraternal boy/girl twins in November 2007.
Grace won't confirm whether the twins were conceived with the help of fertility treatments. In an interview with Good Housekeeping magazine she refused to specify, feeling that the children should be the first to hear about how they were conceived. She said, "Also, on behalf of women everywhere who have gone through fertility treatments, it is my firm belief that what happens between your legs is nobody's business but your own. Let me say this: They are my children. They look like me and my husband, and I can only hope that they get the best of our qualities."
Grace was forty-eight years old when the twins were born. Her pregnancy was fraught with complications, including extremely high blood pressure, preterm labor, breathing difficulties. The problems resulted in hospitalization numerous times during the pregnancy. Ultimately, her doctors recommended an early delivery because of pulmonary edema and an emergency cesarean section was scheduled.
The babies were born two months premature. The girl twin, Lucy Elizabeth, weighed just two pounds, fifteen ounces. She remained in the care of the NICU for six weeks. The boy twin, John David, weighed five pounds, one ounce and was released from the hospital after three weeks. Grace required care for her dangerously high blood pressure after the twins were born.
John David is named for his father and John the Revelator, a gospel song. Lucy Elizabeth is named after Grace's mother, Elizabeth, and grandmother, Lucy.
Nancy Grace quit the television show, Swift Justice after only one year in order to stay home with her twins in Atlanta.
