Many people have a stereotype that being a twin means being alike. Parents of twins and multiples know that this isn't necessarily so; twins are individuals. However, many twins share similar characteristics, from physical appearance to personality to preferences. What about your twins? Take this week's Parent's Poll and talk about your twins. Use the comments link to explain your answer.

I cannot tell the personalities of my 9-month old twins apart and at a quick glance, I can’t distinguish one twin from the other either. This may change as they grow.
My 3-year-old twin boys couldn’t be more different. Perhaps it’s because they’re fraternal. They look similar (both blond-haired and blue-eyed), but they have different facial features. And their personalities are extremely dissimilar. One’s a good eater; one is not. One loves reading; the other is into play and action. I could go on and on as to how different they are! I love watching their two very different personalities grow. It will be fun to see how they develop as they get older.
My girl/boy twins are complete opposites though I have never thought of it in that way until now. My girl Erica is smaller and has brown hair and brown eyes. My son John is bigger and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She is extremely sensitive and delicate, screams very easily and always wants her mommy. My son is very easy going, only cries if hungry or tired and will play with anyone. Erica hates to eat while John will eat anything put in his mouth. Erica doesnīt sleep well while John will sleep the whole night. Itīs really mind boggling how these two are twins but at times they love to play and cuddle with eachother and then their twinness really shines!
Our 9 month old boys are very different. Cody does commando crawling. Alfie does 4*4 crawling generally over his brother. Alfie can concentrate for ages on 1 toy, Cody chews them up and spits out in seconds.
Since day 1 they have been different with 1 being better at sleeping and the other better at eating.
The 1 thing they both have in common – they both love cuddles.

My four year old identical girls are difficult to tell apart physically, but when it comes to their personalities… well, it’s as if Skye has some serious opera going on in there, Flight of the Valkyries stuff, while Shannon has a Monty Python Marching Band!!!
My monozygotic twin boys look very much alike. They are now 25 and over the years have developed very different personalities, yet can also be very similar personality-wise. They do seem to know when something is going on with the other. They are virtually inseparable. They work together and even live in the same apartment complex!
My 4 year old twins Ethan and Gorie have been so much alike, even since birth. They ate at the same time, pooped at the same time, slept at the same time, rolled over at the same age, sat up at the same age, crawled, walked, etc all at the same age. They ate solids at the same age, learned to talk at the same age and have stayed half a pound and half an inch apart since birth. There are slight differences in their facial features but overall most people have difficulty telling them apart!
I have 16 month old identical girls, although they have developed the same physiclly, they are total oppisites in every other way. Its like they feel the need to balance each other out in their strengths and weaknesses.
my 4 year old identical twin girls are very close and the best of friends, they always look out for each other. since birth they have been very much alike in everything fthey have done, they both walked at the same time etc, such a joy to have
My 5-year old boy girl twins are complete opposites also. My boy has blonde hair, green eyes and my girl has bron hair and dark brown eyes. I’ve always known they were opposites since the day they were born. My daughter would fall asleep on her own sleep all night long in her own crib. My son always needed to be held or even just touched adwoul wake up multiple times to eat through out the night. As they have gotten older it has become even more apparent to me.
I am an identical twin myself (girls) and we are almost exactly alike, we like all the same things, act the same way, and do the same things it may be because we were grown up knowing the stereotype but the more alike the more fun
, we can switch classes for fun and people wont notice, my parents said when we were younger we had a “twin talk”, also, my sister got hit in the head by accident but I started crying but I wasn’t even in the same room. I personally love being a twin and think my sister and I are very alike
we have 5 month old identical twin girls, well they are supposed to be, they shared the same placenta, but they are both very different they only look alike as sisters but are different sizes and very different personalities, is anyone else identical twins like ours different in every way
I am an Identical twin (age 28). My Twinky(Maria)and I are very alike, we like the same things just different color. Even when we got married. We found out that our husbands were born in the same state and have similar hobbies(no relation). We also finish each other sentences and laughed at each others jokes without finishing the joke first. Its like we have our own language. When asked by our parents what we thought our sister liked about a certain boy, we would always get it right. We also feel each other pain mildly. One day at school my sister decided to jump off some tall stairs to impress friends and when she landed she bit her tongue almost off (she still has her tongue). when my mother asked me what happen? My speach was impared and I couldnt feel my tongue. I tried telling her but it was impossible. We always won our three legged rases (our favorite). When my sister got pregnant with her first son, she always asked for Quesadillas or nachos, while I could not stand the smell of cheese for her first trimester. I felt sick, lost weigh from all the vomiting and dizziness. While she was perfectly fine throught out her pregnancy. When she got pregnant again, I told told her to go to the doctor because I was feeling sick. Doctor said she was a week pregnant! I dont know if its because we lived together all our lives, or because we have twin connection, but my sister is my best friend and she always understans me. Love yah Twinky.
My twin girls are 18 mths old and so many people have asked are they identical. I cant tell them apart unless i see there faces. Everything about them are identical right down to gap in teeth hair colur style eyes nose mouth. I took them for tgeir feet to be measured and 1 week botj 3.5 g in both feet about 6 weeks later in the right foot same size and both their left foot were a 4 g. Even the shop keeper said that wad spooky! The only differece is one is a bit mannier than the other. I question are these identical even the midwife asked are you sure they are not identical. Please help i need to know
Our identical twin boys, now aged 13, are very similar. At birth they were the exact same weight, height. They have continued to be the same weight, size, and vary in height slightly. When they were babies, when one of our boys would get a tooth, days later the other baby would get the same tooth come in. When they were losing teeth, one would lose a tooth and we would go to the other one and that exact tooth would be loose. Most people cannot tell them apart. We usually know who is who because their personalities are so different. Once in a while they will both say something at the same time. A friend of ours who lives close by, they also have identical twins boys the same age as ours and the 4 of them are really great friends. One year on April Fool’s Day, both sets of twins pretended to be the other to play a trick on their teacher and all of the other classmates knew–it was funny and the teacher took it all in stride. Also, our twins are a miracle because after our 2 older children were born, my husband had cancer and we were told we would not be able to have any more children. The pregnancy was a surprise and then to find out that there were going to be 2 of them was a bigger surprise and a miracle.
My 17 month old identical twin boys are polar opposites, and I am very thankful for it. One of them keeps me on my toes at all times very outgoing and rambunctious always into something and never wants to sit still for to long, while the other is so laid back and lovey and quite content to be so. Having 3 older children ages 10,8 and 6 and having had my tubes tied after my 6 year old becoming pregnant with twins was beyond unexpected. I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world but am very grateful they have totally different personalities.
i have two identical boy twins. yet they to me dont even look identical. one is outgoing a bit bonkers the other almost school master in his straight organisational way. its like one allows the other to have that facet. they are in separate classes but choose to find each other at breaks. very different kids but – try to get their attention when they are together and they act as one.they have their own play and jokes. fascinating
sometimes it is like they are two halves of a whole.
