I did not find out I was having twins until I was 5 months pregnant and decided to find out if I was having a girl or a boy. I brought my best friend with me since my husband had to work. The ultra sound woman said "You have had your first ultrasound, right? And I was like "Yes" in a worry. She then said "Well Rachel, I have never said this to anyone before but I see 2 hearts!". My best friend then replied "Oh My G-D, the Baby has two hearts!". I immediately knew I was having twins and even just joked about it on the way to the appointment....What I did not know however is that I was diagnosed with TTTS.
My Multiples Are Special Because...
We were diagnosed with TTTS at 5 mos. and I had to have the surgery to separate them in the womb. It was frigtening and I was told that I had 50% chance of loosing one during the procedure. Everything went fine and I owe everything to the Dr. who helped save their lives. Now my girls are strong and healthy and I couldn't be happier although that was quite a trying time.
Advice
- Stay scheduled! Wake the other one up if it is time to feed otherwise you will be feeding all day long. Enjoy it!
