All About My Multiples: Pregnancy & Birth
My beautiful twin boys were born on May 21st, 1993. They were 5 wks early, so they were preemies. At birth, Shaun weighed 5 lbs 8 oz. and Shane weighed 4 lbs. 15 oz. They were born by caesarean birth due to my blood pressure continuously rising. Even though the twins only weighed just a little over ten lbs. put together, I gained 100 lbs. over the course of my pregnancy! I only lost half of it after I had them, and I'm referring to long after I had them.
My Multiples Are Special Because...
My twins are so special to me because they are truly a gift from God. They are so cute and adorable and I love them so much. I've loved watching them grow through the years and how they've changed. It was always so much fun to dress them alike. That was just the coolest thing to do, and people always take notice of them. Then they usually ask the question, "are they twins?" As they've grown throughout the years, they have become to realize that they can do things that others can't do, like play tricks on their teachers! They actually started that quite young. I believe it was in pre-school the very first time that they switched seats! I thought it was cute. The teacher, however; didn't think so. They have done that now off and on over the years. they are now seniors in high school and last year they changed classes for 3 whole weeks!! The teachers never did find out. Some of the kids who could tell them apart knew it, while others that couldn't tell them apart had no idea. My twins have already done something that most people would never do. They went skydiving for their 16th birthday. They are such daredevils and not afraid of anything. They love amusement parks. they love to ride the roller coasters, thanks to me. I used to take them when they were just little and put them on any rides that they could ride, and then as they got older and bigger, I'd advance them to the bigger rides and now, they will ride anything! They even get on rides that I'd never dream of getting on. Having twins is just so much fun. They are my only two and that's all I need!
Advice
- The advice that I would give to parents of twins or multiples is to sleep when they sleep, even if you think you have a million and one things to do. Don't get stressed out and don't worry about a clean house. It can get done later. Childproof everything because what one don't think of, the other one will!! Last but not least, enjoy them while they're babies and young, because time goes so fast and before you know it, they'll be seniors in high school and preparing for college. Have fun with your twins! It's hard work when they're little, but it all so rewarding and worth it! Take life day by day and ENJOY them!!!
