I'm a house-mummy (as opposed to house-wife) to a son of 5 and 14 month old twin girls.
Why You Blog
My career background is in Marketing and PR and whilst I don't really miss the corporate rat race, I do miss writing. My last job involved writing press releases, advertising material, brochure copy and no end of powerpoint presentations.
Having 1 year old twins has meant that going back to work hasn't really been an option and as an expat wife, I'm in a very fortuntate position that we don't need me to be earning. However, I need to do something that stimulates my mind.
I've always enjoyed words. One of my favourite possessions is a huge Oxford English dictionary and by writing a blog, I get to exercise my brain, hide from my parental responsibilities for a while and generally switch off from the world.
When I started getting regular readers I felt a huge burst of pride and it's that feeling which keeps me going. There are plenty of days when it would be easy to not bother, but I find that when I sit at my laptop to write, I can feel myself unwind and it's almost like a gift to myself. I can escape into my blog and hopefully create something which others will derive enjoyment from. Here's hoping!
