What You Blog About
I blog about life with two sets of twins, as I try to become the best mom I can be by applying various parenting strategies and creating peace and harmony in our home.
Your Twins or Multiples
I have two sets of twin boys, ages 4 and 2.
Why You Blog
When my first set of twins were born 3 1/2 months early by emergency c-section, we spent months with our tiny babies in the NICU watching them go through countless horrible tests, x-rays, surgeries and procedures. During that time, I promised my kids that if they made it I would do anything and everything to give them the best that I could. I realized that I wanted to be a parent so badly as I felt my heart aching and reaching for them every day.
Fast forward a few years -- our kids did eventually come home from the hospital and we felt grateful for every moment we had together; today, our boys have a clean bill of health on every aspect of their development, and they’ve even been joined by another set of twins, brothers two years younger. But during this time, as our boys have been growing and developing, other challenges have arisen that, on some days, feel no less hard or real than what we experienced in the NICU. This summer I realized that I was yelling at my kids a lot, we were fighting frequently, and they were acting out in ways that shocked and surprised me. I was missing that feeling of peace and harmony in our home that I knew I could have – I remembered my promise, and decided to find answers and give myself the best tools that I could in this important job.
I ordered a ton of parenting books off of Amazon, and as I read all these books I started seeing a lot of overlap in their ideas and decided to start trying to apply them in a strategic way in my family. I started a blog, GivingKidsOurBest.com, as an outlet to share what I'm learning, get feedback and ideas from other parents, and motivate me to do my very best for my kids.
