One of the biggest challenges for parents of twins is to nurture their children as individuals, even though they are multiples. The Bumbleride Indie Twin double stroller seems to have that same goal in mind. Independently adjustable features provide a custom ride experience for each child in the stroller, while offering equal amounts of comfort and capacity in each seat. While the Bumbleride Indie twin has a hefty price tag (compare prices), it can also claim a sturdy construction and with its ability to accommodate infant seats, it may last the lifetime of your twins' stroller needs.

Side by Side Double Stroller

There are two basic styles of double strollers. A tandem-style stroller seats babies or children in a front-to-back position. Side-by-side strollers, on the other hand, position both riders next to each other, so they share the same view. The Bumbleride Indie Twin is a side-by-side stroller style. Opinions are evenly split on which style is better. Some find side-by-side strollers, with their wider profile, more difficult to maneuver in tight spaces, but many parents find that their twins prefer the side-by-side vantage point of this style of stroller. At 29" wide, the Bumbleride has a narrow profile for a side-by-side model, and should fit comfortably through doorways and narrow hallways.

Twin Stroller Gives Individual Attention to Babies' Comfort

One of the advantages of the Bumbleride Indie Twin is that each of the seats can be adjusted independently. In addition, the canopy and footrests can also be independently adjusted. This gives each twin a custom ride. One can sit upright to take in the view, while the other reclines for a nap. One can have sun while the other has shade. The adjustable features also give the stroller longevity, making it a good option for both infants and older children. Although the Indie Twin is not an all-terrain or jogger stroller, it can be used for "off-road" use. It has rear wheel suspension and 12" air-inflated tires to give a comfortable ride. A jogging strap also makes it usable for exercise. Bumbleride included features to make parents more comfortable also. A cup holder and generous storage basket underneath the seats will keep you organized when you're on-the-go. The adjustable handle makes pushing comfortable at every height. At thirty-four pounds, the Indie Twin is not a lightweight, but it does collapse to a compact 15"-x-32" for storage and transport. The Bumbleride Indie Twin is available in eight different colors and several accessories (such as snack tray, carry handle, rain shield and footmuff) can be purchased separately.

Functions As a Travel System

One popular option for strollers is a travel system, a combination of stroller and infant carrier seat/car seat. It is a particularly convenient mode for parents of multiples, making it easy to transport small babies from the house to the car to the stroller with minimal disruption. While the Bumbleride Indie Twin is not technically a travel system, it can function in that capacity with the purchase of a car seat adapter bar. However, don't be fooled. The Indie Twin will only accommodate ONE of most models of seats. That simply won't work for twins. The only brand that will work if you are using two seats is the Maxi Cosi Mico (compare prices). You must purchase both the Maxi Cosi Mico dual adapter system, and two Maxi Cosi Mico seats in order for the Bumbleride Indie Twin to function as a travel system double stroller.

Note About Recall and Retrofit

In early 2012, a recall notice was issued for certain Bumbleride Indie Twin models. There was a safety concern regarding the front wheel cracking or breaking at the central axle hub, resulting in a potential tipping and fall hazard. A retrofit kit is available to correct the problem. The recall only effects strollers manufactured between January 2009 and August 2011. To obtain the retrofit kit, contact Bumbleride Customer Care by calling 1-800-530-3930 or emailing support@bumbleride.com.
