Bad News Bears
A new generation of misfit baseball players stars in this remake, with Billy Bob Thornton reprising the Walter Matthau role. (PG-13, In Theaters Summer 2005)
Barbie as Rapunzel
Barbie is a beloved character for young girls, and in this story she assumes the character of Rapunzel. A flurry of related dolls and accessories accompanied this holiday release. (2002, Not Rated.)
Because of Winn Dixie
Cute kids and a dog highlight this heartwarming film based on a terrific kids' book. Great family entertainment. (PG, DVD August 2005)
Brother Bear
Many features from Disney interplay animal and human characters, but Brother Bear is perhaps one of the more dramatic. Younger multiples may find it a bit overwhelming, as the story of Native American brothers takes a tragic turn. But there's also plenty of Disney charm and humor. (2003, Rated G.)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Another remake proves that everything old is new again. Tim Burton directs an updated version of the Roald Dahl story where a boy finds a golden ticket and wins a tour of a mysterious candy factory. Stars Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka (PG, In Theaters Summer 2005)
Cheaper by the Dozen
Talk about multiple madness! Two twins and ten other kids make for a hilarious homelife, especially with parents like Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt. Fans of the fifty-year old book and movie may be disappointed by the twenty-first century updates from the original, but nearly everyone will be charmed by this fun family. (2003, Rated PG.)
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
Based on the classic children's book series by C.S. Lewis, a group of kids pass through a wardrobe to enter the mystical land of Narnia. (Coming 2005)
The Fantastic Four
Comic book heroes, Mr. Fantastic, Thing, Invisble Woman and Human Torch, battle Dr. Doom. (PG-13, In Theaters Summer 2005)
Finding Nemo
Who knew fish could be so much fun? Disney's Finding Nemo enchanted moviegoers in the summer of 2003, then swam into homes on video/DVD in time for the holidays. The voices of Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres create unforgettable characters. Parents of sensitive younger children should be aware that the story begins with a tragedy, but overall is full of more upbeat moments. (2003, Rated G).
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Released in theaters in November 2002, this second installment in the Harry Potter series is darker and more intense than its predecessor, but just as magnificent. It's definitely too scary for preschoolers and even sensitive older children may find it overwhelming. (2002, Rated PG.)
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Fans of the popular books loved this movie for its faithfulness to the story line. And new fans loved this movie for its amazing effects and clever characters. Available on video and DVD. (2002, Rated PG.)
It Takes Two
In their first theatrical release, the Olsen twins meet The Parent Trap. Popular twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen play identical strangers who swap places to bring together adults Kirstie Alley and Steve Guttenberg. Regarded as one of the Olsen twins best ventures. (1995, Rated PG.)
Lion King 1 1/2
This straight-to-video release is a prequel/sequel to previous Lion King features. It retells the story of the original movie from the perspective of Timon, the meerkat, and Pumba, the warthog. With the hilarious voices of Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella, these characters stole the show in previous versions, and fans will surely enjoy this new endeavor from Disney. (2004, Rated G.)
Scooby Doo
The live-action version of the cartoon classic is enjoyable for parents and children alike. (2002, Rated PG.)
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
A beautifully done animated feature about wild horses in the wild west, this picture differs from others in the realistic depiction of the animals' actions and communications. The animation and musical accompaniment are fantastic. Some elements may be frightening for youngest children. (2002, Rated G.)
The Wild Thornberries Movie
Based on the popular Nickelodeon televison series, the Thornberries movie features wild animal adventures. Eliza Thornberry, daughter of noted wildlife documentarians, is granted the ability to communicate with animals. (2002, Rated PG.)
