Celebrity Mother of Twins Name:
More Info About Angelina Jolie's Twins:
Angelina Jolie and her partner, actor Brad Pitt, are parents to a total of six children, including twins Knox and Vivienne. The twins are the fifth and sixth children for the celebrity couple, including three adopted children and one biological daughter: a boy, Maddox (born in 2001 in Cambodia and adopted by Jolie in 2002); a girl, Zahara (born in 2005 and adopted from Ethiopia); a boy, Pax (born in Vietnam in 2003 and adopted in 2007); and a girl, Shiloh (born to the couple in 2006 in Nambibia).
The twins were the reportedly the result of in vitro fertilization in an attempt to grow the family more quickly. According to US Weekly magazine, Angelina Jolie sought IVF so "she wouldn't have to deal with the stress of trying to get pregnant." A reproductive specialist quoted in the article claims that Jolie's chances of conceiving fraternal twins naturally on her own was under 1%, but that in vitro raised the odds to 25%.
Jolie checked into a French hospital on July 2, 2008 for observation of her twin pregnancy. Her obstetrician, Dr. Michel Sussmann, said the hospitalization was "normal for a patient who had a cesarean (section) during her first pregnancy." The twins were delivered by cesarean section at a hospital in Nice, France and weighed about five pounds each. Although the twins weren't expected for several weeks, they were delivered early "for medical reasons" so that the babies could be born "in the best conditions," according to Dr. Sussmann. The babies' original due date was estimated as August 19th.
Pictures of the infant twins brought a hefty profit when the parents sold the rights for the first images of Knox and Vivienne to People and Hello! magazines for $14 million. The profits were distributed to the family's foundation.
