UCLA Medical Center; Los Angeles, California Separation Team: Jorge Lazareff, director of Pediatric Neurosurgery Henry Kawamoto Jr., surgical director of the UCLA Craniofacial Clinic Status: Released from the hospital and returned home in early 2003. They returned to the United States later that year after contracting meningitis. The twins remain in the United States, living with volunteer families. Their parents visit when they can.
