Related Guide PicksSuggested ReadingBefore You Buy Toys for Twins/MultiplesBuying toys for twins and other multiples can be tricky. Do you buy one and hope they agree to share compatibly? Or do you go broke buying two, three or more exact replicas of the same toy? Some families try to honor each child's individuality by buying similar but equal versions, then watch in frustration as the siblings clamor for one over the other. Here are some guidelines. Share, Share AlikeThere are some toys that have multiple appeal; they can be played with by two, three or more children simultaneously. These types of toys tend to be more expensive than individual options, but they are a solid choice for big gift events, such as birthdays or holidays. Playsets, games, model railroads and construction sets are all worth considering when you need a toy that siblings can share. All For One, And One For AllSometimes parents of multiples get lucky, and find toys that are packaged perfectly for twins or triplets. Items that are sold in sets of two or three can often be obtained for less than the cost of three individual items. However, consider whether the items are similar enough to meet the demands of competitive multiples, or if one of the toys will be preferred and become a source of conflict. Just Like UsChildren love to play with things that let them explore their identity and role within society. Dolls and character toys have long been childhood favorites for this reason. Consider toys and books that multiples can identify with -- featuring dolls and characters that are twins, triplets or other multiples. Hot, Hot, Hot!Every year, certain toys top the holiday hot list. For parents of multiples, the challenge to find not one -- but two or three! -- of the coveted items can be an effort in frustration and futility. "Toy Wishes" magazine has identified the following toys as potential top sellers for the 2007 holiday season. Get 'em before they're hot, to avoid disappointment come December.
