Surgeons Separate Shaw Twins

Thursday September 7, 2006
Surgeons at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. separated four-month-old conjoined twins, Mateo and McHale Shaw of Wisconsin. The boys were joined at the lower back and shared a spine.

In other news about conjoined twins, doctors at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah performed additional surgery on Kendra Herrin to remove an intestinal blockage, a month after the four-year-old was separated from her sister, Maliyah.
