Parents Charged in Fake Sextuplets Scam
Friday April 14, 2006
A Missouri couple, Kris and Sarah Everson, claimed to be parents of sextuplets in an apparent attemt to collect money. They developed a website and talked to the media about the purported birth of four boys and two girls on March 8th. Police estimate that the couple amassed thousands of dollars in cash that they used to pay bills, and even more in goods donated for the fake babies. When confronted by the police after further media investigation revealed discrepancies in the story, the Eversons admitted that their sextuplet story was a hoax. Sarah said she faked her pregnancy, even to her husband, and gained weight by overeating.
The couple has been charged with stealing by deceit, and may face up to seven years of jail time. Kris was released on bond, but Sarah remains in jail for outstanding traffic warrants.
Although this couple took their hoax to an extreme in search of profit, multiple birth fakers proliferate on the internet, where they share their stories in search of attention and support. Find out more about fakers at the Facts About Multiples site.

Isn’t it just despicable what people will do for money? It just disgusts me… and they get whatever the courts say applies to them…
