Breastfeeding Guilt

By November 20, 2012

Simultaneously meeting the nutritional needs of multiples babies can be a challenge, and every mother of multiples has to find the method that works best for her family, whether breastfeeding or bottle feeding. Some women who choose bottle feeding encounter opposition from others who insist that breastfeeding is best. Certainly breastfeeding offers numerous benefits, but it is not the right choice for everyone. Sometimes a difficult pregnancy or an early birth present circumstances that prohibit nursing. Or maybe the demands of caring for two or more infants simply generate too much stress.

This recent blog post from the New York Times offers some interesting insight on the issue. Although not specific to mothers of multiples, the writer takes an honest look at her situation and how her feelings shifted when she encountered difficulties in nursing her infant.
