Follow me on:

As my twin girls get older, their friends are an increasingly important part of their lives. They have some friends in common, and other friends that they consider their own. It's an interesting dynamic. What about your family?

(1) multiples says:

Friendships among girls are probably different than among boys. My twins are both girls. They have some friends — their really good friends — that they share in common. Other friends they identify as only “mine”, usually because the friendship has developed in a class at school. If they hang around enough, they’ll end up being another friend-in-common though. Somehow, it is always more fun when everyone is together.

My 14-year-old boys are just now branching out. They no longer eat lunch together at school and hang out with a different bunch of kids while at school. I’m glad to see it too as I believe it’s time. They still “share” one very close friend–the boy who lives across the street that they’ve known for years.
