Since my twin daughters started high school, I've been reliving a lot of memories. Unfortunately, one of the memories I am reliving is the fatigue and exhaustion of their infant days. High school starts early in our city -- very early! It's been many years since I have found myself up before the sun, and I am not adapting very well to the new routine. I've only been able to glean a few hours of unbroken sleep per night, and find myself dragging through the days. While the girls have been good about getting to bed early, my schedule this week has not permitted me to adjust my bedtime.
So I join the parents of infant twins in the trenches right now, struggling for a snooze and fighting fatigue throughout the day. Even though it has been many years since my sleep was disrupted by infants, the effects of sleep deprivation are familiar: lethargy, irritability, inability to focus, lack of productivity and feeling rundown. Fortunately I know that this phase -- like infancy -- will pass all "two" soon, and we'll settle into a more comfortable routine with more restful nights. Or at least I can look forward to sleeping in this weekend!

You must be in a Euphoric state. I don’t remember it that way.
We are right there with you! Exhausted already and we have just started!
