Co-sleeping has never worked very well for us. I’ve tried it on nights when one of the kids is having a hard time getting to sleep, not feeling well, etc. The result has always been that nobody gets any sleep. My kids all have their beds in their room and it works well for us. If one of the boys is having a bad night we’ve had better luck using the baby swings and sleeping on the couch beside them. My theory – whatever works to get everyone some sleep!
We have co-slept with all of our children until they were about 3 yrs old (after they had been weaned). And now are co-sleeping with our twins. It is the only way I can get any sleep and feel secure that my babies are safe. This time because there are two babies we have a king and queen next to each other. This gives us enough room for my husband, the twins, and I and even enough room for one of my sons if he has a nightmare. I sleep with one baby on either side of me and turn towards which ever one needs to nurse during the night.
