Traveling with Twins

Thursday June 19, 2008
We are packing up to go on vacation. It's a challenge as we are only taking carry on bags, so we have to pack light and solid -- no liquids over 3 ounces! Despite that challenge, it's a lot easier to travel with my twins these days. Even though their clothes are bigger now, they need a lot less stuff. Our first experience with traveling with twins was when they were seven months old. We flew to San Antonio, Texas to visit my college roommate. The amount of equipment we brought with us was staggering: a pack-n-play, two car seats, suitcases filled with bottles, formula and diapers. We gate checked our double stroller and carried on two big backpacks filled with "in case of emergency" baby supplies.

Looking back, I know we could have simplified and packed a lot less. They have Walmart in San Antonio after all; I could have bought diapers and baby food once I got there!

If your summer plans include a trip with twins, here are some things to keep in mind.
