(1) Jamie says:

Friends and support are so important. Someone to call anytime to talk, vent or run something by them. Someone that won’t judge your parenting decisions but will stand by your decisions with you. Help, especially in the beginning but also throughout the toddler years (and maybe longer), caring for 2 or more is difficult, physically and emotionally.

I had two main rules. First, NEVER EVER wake a sleeping baby! Second, Mom sleeps when babies sleep, during the day and night!!

(7) Allison says:

Schedule, Schedule, Schedule!! Especially the first year. Also, it’s okay to let them cry a little during the night. They usually go right back to sleep. We did this to break them from the 2 am feeding when they were about 4 months. There might be a few rough nights but after that you all start getting a lot more sleep. Obviously there are exceptions.

Overnight help! If a family member or friend can live with you for the first month to help you get through the 3 hour feedings would be a tremendous help.

(10) Amy says:

I want someone to clean the floors (mopping, vacuuming) and bathrooms! Those seem to always be the last things I get around to.
But my advice to the mom to be of quads, whatever you can do to get your house in order now, like bills (autopayments) having everything put away (where you want it!) is the first step. Because when family and friends come to help, you’ll no longer know where they put anything! Grateful for all the help, but frustrating when you can no longer find your measuring cups in your own kitchen. Best of luck to you and your family.

A TWINS NURSING PILLOW!!!! They are markerted as “Luv to nurse” and something else I can’t recall. Essentially it is an oversized Boppy. There were MANY moments during the first month where all we three could do was sit down and nurse - and that was a wonderful tool. That is the ONLY thing I can think of that I NEEDED in the first two months besides LOADS of diapers. ONLY buy a few NB in case they grow fast. Best of luck to all new Moms, and the rest of us!

I HAD IDENTICAL G/G TWINS AGES 3 AND A SINGLE AGE 1, TO ALL MOMS WHO SPEND THERE WHOLE TIME WITH THE KIDS FROM NEWBORN TO TODLLER YEARS HONESTLY IS A VERY EXHAUSTING THING BUT REWARDING IN OTHER HAND.WHEN YOU FEEL THAT YOUR LIFE IS TO HEAVY TO LIVE FOR, TAKE SOME MOMENTS WHILE THE KIDS ARE ASLEEP TAKE A REST, AND WHILE YOUR PLAYING A BEDTIME MUSIC WITH THEM TRY TO LISTEN TOO, STOP THINKING OF THE NEXT ACTIVITY, TAKE TIME TO LISTEN TOO, IT REALLY RELAXES YOU ALSO.

Rachel, Please reach out to your local mom’s of multiples group in your area. www.nomotc.org will provide you with the club nearest you. They will help you get together what you’ll need. I have twins and it’s the best thing I ever did. I wouldn’t have gotten through these last 4 years without the ladies in my club.
