Herrin Twins Undergo Separation Surgery
Monday August 7, 2006
Kendra and Maliyah Herrin, four-year-old conjoined twins from Utah, were separated at 10:50 pm on Monday, August 7th during a surgery at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City. During the surgery, which began at 7:15 am on Monday and concluded Tuesday morning, doctors bisected their liver, reconstructed their pelvis and separated their intestines. Although the surgery went very well, Chief Pediatric Surgeon Dr. Rebecka Meyers cautions that there are still big concerns for both girls.
