Should Your Babies Watch TV?

Friday May 19, 2006
A new television channel aimed specifically at babies and toddlers is creating some controversy. BabyFirst TV, available for $9.99 a month at DirectTV and coming soon to cable, offers commercial-free, twenty-four-hour-a-day programming for babies. Is it "a new evolution in kids' media?" Or a marketing gimmick designed to turn the next generation into mindless morons?

For parents of multiples, the television can be a mixed blessing when their twins or multiples are young. On the one hand, it can be a vital tool - the only way that mom or dad can grab fifteen minutes of peace. On the other hand, you can't help but be concerned about the negative influences of the media.
