Quintuplets Born to Surrogate Mother
Tuesday April 26, 2005
A surrogate mother who carried quintuplets delivered the five babies in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday. The five boys -- Enrique, Jorge, Gabriel, Victor and Javier -- were conceived by invitro fertilization and implanted in a surrogate mother.
When all five embryos took and Teresa Anderson found herself pregnant with quintuplets, she declined the $15,000 fee that the genetic parents had agreed to pay her for her surrogacy service.
The boys, born at thirty-three weeks, ranged in weight from three pounds, 15 ounces (Gabriel) to three pounds, seven ounces (Javier). A heart defect in the smallest boy, Javier, prompted concerns and plans for immediate surgery to correct the problem, but the outlook was more hopeful later on Tuesday and doctors are waiting to see what develops over the next few days.

I am considering using a family member as a surrogant so that my husband and I can have children. What are the laws and do you have to adopt the child or children back after they are born? I understand Arizona has different laws when it comes to surrogancy?
